There was a great piece on KSL radio with Doug Wright on the first stanza of this poem today. He were talking about the controversial Muslem Mosque that is going in at ground zero. I love that he can see both sides to any subject and talk about what is really important, rather than just only seeing his side, as well as enlightening my mind to things I did not know.
It was very educational & reminded me of the reason this country is so great.
I have not read this poem in years, and I 'm thankful for it's beautiful advice.
I love the idea that Christ may have been the source of Kiplings inspiration.

I cut my first fall leaf today, I am having mixed emotions about it.
I love, love, love the fall,that brings football, color, pumpkins, harvest,,,
but,,, it just means winter is coming closer and summer is fading.

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

KIND & GENEROUS

You've been so kind and generous

I don't know how you keep on giving
for your kindness I'm in debt to you
for your selflessness, my admiration
and for everything you've done

You know I'm bound...
I'm bound to thank you for it

You've been so kind and generous
I don't know how you keep on giving
for your kindness I'm in debt to you
and I never could have come this far without you
so for everything you've done

You know I'm bound...
I'm bound to thank you for it

I want to thank you
for so many gifts
you gave with love and tenderness
I want to thank you

I want to thank you
for your generosity
the love and the honesty
that you gave me

I want to thank you
show my gratitude
my love and my respect for you
I want to thank you

I want to...

Thank you
thank you
thank you
thank you
thank you
thank you

Thank you, Natalie Merchant for beautiful words to a great song. It makes me want to sing it to my dad & mom, to my hubby, to my family members on both sides, to all my friends who give me strength, peace & love, to the JRES PTO board for making my job easier, to all the people who love my children, to former coaches, especially Elaine Elliott., to all those whose words inspire and touch my soul, so many people I have not even met, but someday I will be able to tell them thank you, because Jesus Christ made this possible for me to do. So many thank you's to Jesus and my Father in Heaven. So many reasons to say thank you, so many kind and generous people who have made a real difference in my life.

thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
